One of the most important lessons I have learned about being an introvert is that having a quiet and gentle nature is a wonderful gift. It was a very hard lesson to learn, but one that has been worth taking the trouble to discover.

Growing up in Singapore, I had a violent and fearful childhood, where the environment and the energy were often confrontational. I often felt trapped, and I isolated myself from those closest to me because I felt awkward and uncomfortable. My quiet nature drew me away from the crowds to find solitude and to fulfil my need to be in my own space.

It was within my solitude and quiet time, as I delved deeper into my own existence, that I learned to believe in myself and find meaning through my many years of adversity. Today, I live a fulfilling life, sharing my joy with my equally introverted husband and children.
