Jennifer Mattern

Jennifer Mattern is the pluckiest introvert you’ll never get to meet (because she’s too socially awkward to attend your potluck/birthday party/barbecue). She’s absolutely thrilled to be a contributor for QuietRev.com. A writer, playwright, photographer, actress, and hardcore INFJ, Jenn is happiest when she’s working (mostly) solo, with at least one dog nearby, or a cat in her lap.

Jenn is perhaps best known as the author of the popular parenting blog Breed ‘Em and Weep (2005-2012). She’s written for many magazines, newspapers and websites, including Brain, Child Magazine, Literary Mama, andThe Boston Globe. Jenn’s essays about motherhood have been nominated for several Pushcart Prizes, and her stage plays have been published and performed nationwide. A graduate of Grinnell College and Sarah Lawrence College (and a native of Philadelphia), Jenn currently resides in rural western Massachusetts with her two outrageously lovely daughters, Sophie and Hattie.

Jenn dreams of someday building a tiny house on a piece of land in Montana and rescuing an elderly horse. She knows nothing yet about building tiny houses—or the care of senior equines—but give her a few books and she’s pretty sure she can figure it out. If you have any thoughts on tiny houses, old horses, or this wonderful Quiet Revolution, please do share. Jenn can be reached via Instagram @breedemandweep or by email: breedemandweep@gmail.com.
